Managing Performance
Whatever else you do as a manager, you need to do this well!
Managing performance is too important not to get right. Many managers find it’s one of the most difficult parts of their job. Yet paradoxically, it may well be the most important.
Management is about getting things done but, critically, it’s about getting things done through the people you manage. Effective performance management is NOT about coercion. It IS about encouraging people to work to their potential – because they want to.
Performance management matters to everyone. It’s one way to help ensure that what we do, we do well. It also helps us to deliver the quality products or services that our customers want.
